From a Recon Marine in Afghanistan

From the Sand Pit. It’s freezing here. I’m sitting on hard, cold dirt between rocks and shrubs at the base of the Hindu Kush Mountains, along the Dar ‘yoi Pomir River, watching a hole that leads to a tunnel that leads to a cave. Stake out, my friend, and no pizza delivery for thousands of miles.

I also glance at the area around my ass every ten to fifteen seconds to avoid another scorpion sting. I’ve actually given up battling the chiggers and sand fleas, but them scorpions give a jolt like a cattle prod. Hurts like a bastard. The antidote tastes like transmission fluid, but God bless the Marine Corps for the five vials of it in my pack.

The one truth the Taliban cannot escape is that, believe it or not, they are human beings, which means they have to eat food and drink water.

That requires couriers and that’s where an old bounty hunter like me comes in handy. I track the couriers, locate the tunnel entrances and storage facilities, type the info into the handheld, shoot the coordinates up to the satellite link that tells the air commanders where to drop the hardware.

We bash some heads for a while, then I track and record the new movement..

It’s all about intelligence. We haven’t even brought in the snipers yet. These scurrying rats have no idea what they’re in for. We are but days away from cutting off supply lines and allowing the eradication to begin.

I dream of bin Laden waking up to find me standing over him with my boot on his throat as I spit into his face and plunge my nickel-plated Bowie knife through his frontal lobe.

But you know me, I’m a romantic. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: This country blows, man. It’s not even a country.

There are no roads, there’s no infrastructure, there’s no government. This is an inhospitable, rock pit shit hole ruled by eleventh century warring tribes. There are no jobs here like we know jobs.

Afghanistan offers two ways for a man to support his family: join the opium trade or join the army. That’s it. Those are your options. Oh, I forgot, you can also live in a refugee camp and eat plum-sweetened, crushed beetle paste and squirt mud like a goose with stomach flu, if that’s your idea of a party.

But the smell alone of those ‘tent cities of the walking dead’ is enough to hurl you into the poppy fields to cheerfully scrape bulbs for eighteen hours a day.

I’ve been living with these Tajiks and Uzbeks, and Turkmen and even a couple of Pushtuns, for over a month-and-a-half now, and this much I can say for sure:

These guys, all of ‘em, are Huns… actual, living Huns. They LIVE to fight. It’s what they do. It’s ALL they do.

They have no respect for anything, not for their families, nor for each other, nor for themselves. They claw at one another as a way of life. They play polo with dead calves and force their five-year-old sons into human cockfights to defend the family honor.

Huns, roaming packs of savage, heartless beasts who feed on each other’s barbarism. Cavemen with AK-47′s. Then again, maybe I’m just cranky.

I’m freezing my ass off on this stupid hill because my lap warmer is running out of juice, and I can’t recharge it until the sun comes up in a few hours.

Oh yeah! You like to write letters, right? Do me a favor, Bizarre. Write a letter to CNN and tell Wolf and Anderson and that awful, sneering, pompous Aaron Brown to stop calling the Taliban ‘smart.’ They are not smart. I suggest CNN invest in a dictionary because the word they are looking for is ‘cunning.’

The Taliban are cunning, like jackals and hyenas and wolverines. They are sneaky and ruthless, and when confronted, cowardly. They are hateful, malevolent parasites who create nothing and destroy everything else. Smart. Pfft. Yeah, they’re real smart.

They’ve spent their entire lives reading only one book (and not a very good one, as books go) and consider hygiene and indoor plumbing to be products of the devil. They’re still figuring out how to work a Bic lighter.

Talking to a Taliban warrior about improving his quality of life is like trying to teach an ape how to hold a pen; eventually he just gets frustrated and sticks you in the eye with it.

OK, enough. Snuffle will be up soon, so I have to get back to my hole. Covering my tracks in the snow takes a lot of practice, but I’m good at it.

Please, I tell you and my fellow Americans to turn off the TV sets and move on with your lives. The story line you are getting from CNN and other news agencies is utter bullshit and designed not to deliver truth but rather to keep you glued to the screen through the commercials.

We’ve got this one under control. The worst thing you guys can do right now is sit around analyzing what we’re doing over here, because you have no idea what we’re doing, and really, you don’t want to know.

We are your military, and we are doing what you sent us here to do.

You wanna help? Buy Bonds, America. Saucy Jack Recon Marine in Afghanistan

Semper Fi
“Freedom is not free… but the U.S. Marine Corps will pay most of your share.”

We are told by the Tea-Party that they are “mad and can’t take it anymore” and that the rest of us should be too!

Folks, we had eight years of Bush and Cheney, but NOW they are getting mad ???REALLY ? !!!! NO, REALLY? !!!!

They didn’t get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

They didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy.

They didn’t get mad about gas prices when Bush and Cheney friends at the oil companies raised a gallon of gas price to more than $5 and posted highest profits in the history of U.S for 8 years straight (Bush presidency).

They didn’t get mad when a covert CIA operative identity was revealed.

They didn’t get mad when the Patriot Act, which allows torture and disregards personal rights for Americans, got passed.

They didn’t get mad when Bush and Cheney illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us, Iraq.

They didn’t get mad when Bush and Cheney spent over 600 billion (and counting) on said illegal war, Iraq.

They didn’t get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq.

They didn’t get mad when they found out about torturing people.

They didn’t get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

They didn’t get mad that Bin Laden was not caught when Bush had a chance to do so.

They didn’t get mad when they saw the horrible veterans conditions at Walter Reed.

They didn’t get mad when Bush let a major US city drown like a 3rd world country.

They didn’t get mad when Bush gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich.

They didn’t get mad when, using reconciliation; a trillion dollars of our tax dollars was redirected to insurance companies for Medicare Advantage, which cost over 20 percent more for basically the same services that Medicare provides.

They didn’t get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark (when during Clinton presidency we had almost a Trillion dollars surplus), and our debt hit the thirteen trillion dollar mark.

They finally got mad when a government decided that people in America deserved the right to get treatment if they are sick and can not afford to do so.

Yes, an illegal war, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all okay with the Tea party. They are partying not with tea, but with sucking the blood of the ordinary Americans.

Sure! NOW, THEY ARE MAD!!! Helping the ordinary Americans…“oh hell no! They have gotten mad !!!”.

Get Real!!! Please forward to as many people as you know.

I know everyone doesn’t agree with everything anyone says and that some people are vehemently opposed to Rush Limbaugh, but please ignore who the message is from if you are one of these people and READ THE MESSAGE. It is appalling to me that men and women who serve and protect our country in the military are given so little while the bureaucrats receive so much…

Love him or loathe him, he nailed this one right on the head………..

By Rush Limbaugh:
I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty and those who die serving our country in Uniform are profound. No one is really talking about it either, because you just don’t criticize anything having to do with September 11. Well, I can’t let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11 attack, you’re going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million. If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.

Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there’s a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.

Keep in mind that some of the people who are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it’s not enough. Their deaths were tragic, but for most, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Soldiers put themselves in harms way FOR ALL OF US, and they and their families know the dangers. (Actually, soldiers are put in harms way by politicians and commanding officers.)

We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11 families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well.

You see where this is going, don’t you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over 50 years of entitlement politics in this country. It’s just really sad. Every time a pay raise comes up for the military, they usually receive next to nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low-rent housing. Make sense?

However, our own US Congress voted themselves a raise. Many of you don’t know that they only have to be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month. And most are now equal to being millionaires plus. They do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn’t have to pay into the system. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7, they may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed them in harm’s way receives a pension of $15,000 per month.

I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting.

“When do we finally do something about this?” If this doesn’t seem fair to you, it is time to forward this to as many people as you can.

The separation of church and state is a legal and political principle derived from the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which reads, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . .” The modern concept often credited to the writings of English philosopher John Locke, the phrase “separation of church and state” is generally traced to an 1802 letter by Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists, where Jefferson spoke of the combined effect of the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment. It has since been quoted in several opinions handed down by the United States Supreme Court, though the Court has not always fully embraced the principle.

The Democrats tend to say they believe in this principle completely while the Republicans keep trying to include religion in our Government’s directives and opinions. While this may seem to be true initially (and something this writer wholeheartedly agrees) coming from the fact that the Republicans introduced the term “One Nation under God” in our pledge of allegiance, let us look at this from their point of view.

The Democrats tend to believe in Universal Health Care. They believe in taking money from certain individuals and give the money (whether they need it or not) to other individuals. Even though this is just one example, you can see that they are constantly saying/telling what other individuals can or can not do.

So what are they doing you ask? They are doing what they preach not to do, they are playing God. I am the almighty and at such a higher intelligence level that you must do what I say, you do not know what is good for you, I know what is good for you. I can tell you how to live your life better than you can. Don’t believe me? Then why are they forcing a Health Care Plan on us that they do not want for themselves? Look at the Greek and Roman Gods of the past, constantly quoting “Do as I say but not as I do.” It is amazing, isn’t it? When the Roman Empire took those belief’s to heart and made it a staple of their economy the whole Empire collapsed.

Sure you may say they didn’t take after the Bible version of God, but they took the concept of Playing God to Heart.

So I say this to the Government, please let me be an individual and make my own choices without government intervention, I don’t need you to take care of my family, I believe I should be able to take care of them myself.

Cash for cars?

This proves that history is a big waste of time in our schools. Apparently the current government hasn’t learned from past mistakes. Ever heard of the housing crisis President Obama or Vice President Biden? Or is that ancient history?

Let me get this straight and correct me if I am misinformed. People who can’t afford a new car or going to trade their clunker of a car for a brand new car payment? In today’s economy who can afford a brand new car? Plus let us not forget something, a little thing called registration and car insurance. Both will be quite a bit higher on a brand new car.

So let’s see what this ingenious idea will get us.

People will stop making their car payments anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.

We will now have car repossessions in greater amounts than ever before (Does housing foreclosures ring a bell?).

We will now have all the banks being bailed out by the government again. Great move America!

As you can see we, not even our esteemed government and President Obama (who is supposed to be the most intelligent President in history) remembered what happenned (what, not even a year ago?) with the housing crisis even though the foreclosures are still going stronger than ever. I guess that is okay, we will just keep bailing the banks out and blaming the Presidents of the past.

As our current President says: “It is not my fault I inherited this debt.” Plus now he has the excuse that any future debt he creates will not be his fault either. Remember nobody ever does anything wrong, it is always the parents (or in this case Previous Governing Bodies) fault.

A Soldier’s Take On Michael Jackson’s Death

Date: Saturday, July 4, 2009, 5:37 PM This is written by a young soldier serving his third tour of duty in Iraq. Thought you might find his take on the Michael Jackson news interesting and he’s right.

Okay, I need to rant.

I was just watching the news, and I caught part of a report on Michael Jackson. As we all know, Jackson died the other day. He was an entertainer who performed for decades. He made millions, he spent millions, and he did a lot of things that make him a villian to many people. I understand that his death would affect a lot of people, and I respect those people who mourn his death, but that isn’t the point of my rant.

Why is it that when ONE man dies, the whole of America loses their minds with grief. When a man dies whose only contribution to the country was to ENTERTAIN people, the Amercian people find the need to flock to a memorial in Hollywood, and even Congress sees the need to hold a “moment of silence” for his passing?

Am I missing something here? ONE man dies, and all of a sudden he’s a freaking martyr because he entertained us for a few decades? What about all those SOLDIERS who have died to give us freedom? All those Soldiers who, knowing that they would be asked to fight in a war, still raised their hands and swore to defend the Constitution and the United States of America. Where is their moment of silence? Where are the people flocking to their graves or memorials and mourning over them because they made the ultimate sacrifice? Why is it when a Soldier dies, there are more people saying “good riddence,” and “thank God for IEDs?” When did this country become so calloused to the sacrifice of GOOD MEN and WOMEN, that they can arbitrarily blow off their deaths, and instead, throw themselves into mourning for a “Pop Icon?”

I think that if they are going to hold a moment of silence IN CONGRESS for Michael Jackson, they need to hold a moment of silence for every service member killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. They need to PUBLICLY recognize every life that has been lost so that the American people can live their callous little lives in the luxury and freedom that WE, those that are living and those that have gone on, have provided for them. But, wait, that would take too much time, because there have been so many willing to make that sacrifice. After all, we will never make millions of dollars. We will never star in movies, or write hit songs that the world will listen too. We only shed our blood, sweat and tears so that people can enjoy what they have.

Sorry if I have offended, but I needed to say it. Remember these five words the next time you think of someone

who is serving in the military;
