Obama's Latest Health Care Update Rumors

False rumors and misinformed information are already floating around. The latest update I over heard someone at my work saying was if the businesses keep their current employee health plan coverages they will be taxed 8% of each of their employees yearly earnings for federal health care coverage. That struck me as odd. He then went on to say that gives the corporations no alternative but to drop health care coverage altogether.

My opinion is this:

I think the corporations will be taxed 8% of their workers yearly income if they don’t provide health care coverage. That would then give the businesses incentive to continue supplying health care. That gives the corporations the option to see what would be more beneficial to them.

This is what I think will happen if they can get away with it:

They will pay the 8% to the government and then deduct the 8% right out of our paycheck to make it look like they are still supplying the coverage but now they will get away scott free. Does anybody else think this is possible? I would appreciate further opinions on this topic.

It all depends what the definition of the word "work" is. If it means that people for whom health care may now be accessed for free will take advantage of the new plan, than it will "work". If it means that the state of health care in the United States will be improved, it will certainly not "work".

I wonder if I am the only one that thinks our President's health care program is not gonna work.

There's alot of people working at 7-11, etc. making around 25k per year. 8% of that would be 2k per year the company would have to pay the government for that individual's health care. That doesn't seem to be near enough money to cover his expenses. Sure, you may get 10 individuals whom may never use it but the one person who does will rack up way more than twenty five thousand dollars in medical expenses. It seem's like this will be a forever spiral in to deeper, and deeper debt.

I'm relatively sure that the tax, will be avoided if a company continues to provide health insurance, will be levied on companies who discontinue their current employee coverage, or those that weren't providing it to begin with, and will be used for the purpose of funding the gov't run plan.
Where to begin;
First of all why is the gov't calling the plan "insurance", when in actuality it is simply another welfare program for people who can't afford, in this case, health care? Whether or not they can afford insurance is irrelevant to the fact that they cannot afford health care. Will the intended beneficiaries be paying the premiums? "Government run health insurance" is a euphemism for "welfare for sick or injured poor people". The government will simply supply health care for poor people out of tax revenue.
Is it just me or does an 8% tax only on companies that don't (can't afford to?) provide health insurance seem like an awful small amount of tax revenue? You can bet that, in no time at all, we the taxpayers will be summoned to provide more and more to yet another under-funded gov't program. The 8% is the promised number that is used to get people agree to the plan, and we all know how well the gov't keeps it's promises.
As far as who will be paying the taxes for this plan, remember this; companies never pay taxes, only people pay taxes. People who make profits in a company or corporation ALWAYS pass taxes on, either to consumers through higher prices, or to employees through lower wages. Make no mistake, the economic burden of this plan will land squarely on the back's of those who are "happy with the plan they have", and believe they are opting out of the gov't run plan.
